LA's vastness opens itself up to a really unique mix of vibes, cultures and microclimates and with over 4,084 square miles of LA County to explore, let's face it there is never a shortage of things to do or places to go. The only limitation is time and money.

In Explore LA, I try to share some of my top get out and do things without breaking the bank. There are many activities that can be done -- some are seasonal. Caveat...this selection is based on my own taste, so pick and choose what you like, here it goes!  Enjoy!!

I'm always exploring new spots, so check back often for new tips and ideas!

Why I Love It

I love supporting small businesses and local artists, and the Arts District Co-Op is the perfect place to do both! I love the lights hanging from the ceiling, and talking to all the incredibly kind artists. If you're lucky, you might stumble in one evening and see a musical guest!

Why I Love It

This is one of my favorite places in Los Angeles. Not just because the myriad of options for food, but because of the design of the floor plan. It feels like you’re stepping into a busy New York market. In the heart of DTLA, this market used to feed the mouths of stars like Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe. They also hold events like Game Night!

Why I Love It

This is probably the cutest nail salon I've ever stumbled upon. Decorated impeccably, my heart just melted the second I walked in! My favorite part about this salon is that it doubles as a cafe! You can walk in and order a drink, without purchasing a mani or pedi. Also, can we talk about how picture perfect this patio is?

Fine wine, hot dogs and pinball??? Sounds like the perfect place! Walt's Bar is one of my favorite spots in Eagle Rock. It's completely my style, in its retro old school fashion, to it's pinball lined up on the back wall. Walt's is a small spot, so it's the perfect place for a date! It's down the street from Occidental College, so it can fill up with students...

Why I Love It

Occidental College is the home to alumni such as President Barack Obama, Luke Wilson and Ben Affleck. It's also where they filmed a large part of Clueless (1995). I mostly love this campus because it's so gorgeous! It's a perfect mix between old and new buildings, covered in trees and completely open to the public. While it's obviously busy during school hours...

Why I Love It

Olvera Street is a little strip of road tucked in the corner of Downtown LA! It's a great place to get some yummy authentic Mexican food and buy a t-shirt with Frida Kahlo's face. I love going here to buy Sarape blankets (I have one for my car, my bed, my travel...) and other little goodies for my friends and family.

Going to Union Station is a bit like going back in time. The interior is absolutely stunning, and a bit of a peek into the past. The high ceilings fill with the smell of coffee and yummy food from the inside restaurants. And if you're feeling up to it, you can easily catch a train down to San Diego for the day!

Hidden in bustling North Hollywood, the bikeway is the perfect place to go for a quick ride. The entire path is lined with art murals and greenery, and did I mention it's "free." A little ride on the Chandler Bikeway breaks up the stress of the commute and gives you quiet time.

Why I Love It

This cute vintage shop is right on Venice Blvd., hence the name, and is full of hidden treasures. They sell different clothing, knicks knacks and jewelry. Some of my favorite items are vintage name patches, woven mudcloth blankets, and of course, the 80's prom dresses.
